Music at Holy Trinity

"Music is one of the loveliest and most glorious gifts of God. Satan hates it because it has great power to dispel temptations and evil thoughts..."

--Martin Luther

Music is the best balm for a sad heart, for it restores contentment and quickens and refreshes the heart.

Music is a glorious gift of God, very like to theology. I would not part with my little gifts of music for anything in the world. We ought to teach the young this art, for it makes fine and clever people.

The Choirs

Little Angels Choir

Age 4½ through grade 1. This beginning choir learns to sing and make music through play and movement. They sing on Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Easter, and Mother’s Day. Meets Tuesdays 6:30-7:15.

Seraphim Choir

Grades 2-6. This choir sings Psalms, Alleluia verses, anthems, and occasional Introits, the fourth Sunday of every month at 8:00. Meets Tuesdays 7:00-7:40.

Chancel Choir

SATB choir for adults and youth. New members are always welcome. This choir sings at 11:00 services September through Trinity Sunday and at all festival services. Meets Thursdays at 8:00 with generous time off in January and after Easter.

Women and Girls Chorale

A choir for women of every age! Sings first Sunday of each month at 8:00. Rehearses 3rd, 4th, and 5th Sundays of the month from 9:00 to 9:30.

Handbell Choir

New members are always welcome when we have openings. If you are interested, speak to the Director of Music. Basic music-reading skills are necessary. It is important for the entire choir to be present for every rehearsal and service when the bells are scheduled to play. This choir plays once a month in 8:00 and 11:00 services and for special services. Meets Tuesdays 8:15-9:15.

Cantors

Those who have the gift of helping to lead the congregation in song will find many opportunities at Holy Trinity. If you are interested in being a cantor, please speak to the Director of Music.

Instrumental Ensemble

A loose ensemble of brass, woodwinds, and strings which plays for special services. We also form duets or trios to play for Sunday services. Other opportunities for instrumentalists are Holy Trinity Brass, which plays for Christmas, Easter, and occasionally other festival services. Recorder Consort, which is formed on an ad hoc basis, playing for summer services or occasional prayer services and Polka Band, which plays at Easter breakfast and other appropriate occasions. These groups rehearse as needed.
