Sunday Church School

August 30 @ 10:30 am
An open book on a table below the text "Adult Sunday School" in a bold font, against a black background.
  • A Longer Look at the Lessons – here is an opportunity to dig deeper into each week’s three Scripture readings with “A Longer Look at the Lessons.” This Bible Study, based on the Bible readings in our worship, provides information about the readings and their contexts. Questions and answers mine the riches of the Readings while encouraging class discussion and personal application by asking, “What does it mean for us?” The class meets in Fellowship Hall stage end at 10:30 a.m. each Sunday. Pastor Guenzel facilitates the discussion. All older teens and adults are welcome!
  • GOD OF THE ORDINARY: A STUDY IN THE BOOK OF RUTH – Join Tom Schied in this 6 week study on the book of Ruth. The book of Ruth must surely be one of the loveliest short stories ever written, telling an unforgettable tale of purity, faithfulness, innocence, loyalty, duty, and love. Yet it is set in dark times: the final verse of the book of Judges, which precedes Ruth in the Bible, tells us that “in those days Israel had no king; everyone did as he saw fit.” As one commentator writes, the time was marked by “violent invasions, apostate religion, unchecked lawlessness, and tribal civil war.” Meet in the Study after worship on Sunday mornings.
  • REASON FOR HOPE: APOLOGETICS WITHOUT APOLOGY – A course on living out 1 Peter 3: 15: “In your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you.” 12 Sundays, September – December 2025; Fellowship Hall; Led by Pastor Maurice
  • FAMILY SUNDAY SCHOOL – Calling all children and at least one parent: Come to Sunday School together! The theme of the Family Sunday School this year as we walk through the Old Testament stories of Creation to the building of the Tabernacle is that God wants to live with us and be our God. We want, as Jesus prayed, for our church family to know and love God, the only true God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The Family Sunday School is an Intergenerational Bible Study with Bible stories, snacks, and crafts (that relate to the story). Older participants may mentor younger ones (in a Big Brother/Sister role) or pursue independent creative projects together while parents may discuss the passage in greater detail.
